ACTA has a proud history of advocating for its members, Allegany County students, and public schools. Founded in 1903 and continuing today, ACTA's goals are:

• To enable members to speak with a common voice on issues
• To work for the welfare of school children
• To work for the advancement of education and improvement of educational opportunities for all
• To fulfill the mission of the Association
